Amid the Mu Koh Chang National Park jungle, peering out across the Gulf of Thailand, sits the Vanara.
Vanara refers to the mystical people of the forest described in the epic Ramayana. In the poem, the playful, courageous and kind Vanaras help king Rama defeat the demon Ravana and free his wife Sita. Although the word Vanara has come to mean "monkey" over the years and the Vanaras are depicted as such, the word derives from vana ("forest"), and nara ("man") and means "belonging to the forest".
Imagine a paradise so perfect that man and nature still exist in perfect harmony with one another. Turquoise water twinkles in the blazing sunlight. Lush green landscapes are laden with flowers and fruit. It is silent, save for the slow creak of the ancient coconut palms lazily bowing in the breeze, the gentle waves rhythmically throwing themselves upon the white sandy shore, the quiet cries of the country’s most exotic species.
Bordering the dense, steep jungle, the Vanara is laid out like a thai village. Thirty cozy, traditional bungalows on piles, with palm leaf tatched roofs and hardwood floors dot a generous, lavishly green garden with decked patios and a buzzing bar and restaurant, fragrant of the aromas of the finest Thai cuisine on the island. And stone's throw from the Mu Koh Chang National Park's scenic waterfalls, Koh Yat's bountiful coral reefs and surrounded by the golden beaches of Koh Chang's west coast with their unrivalled sunsets.
Come and join us. The Vanara will bring joy to your eye, peace to your mind, warmth to your soul, and comfort to your palate.
Come join us, Koh Chang awaits.
